Richard Sparenhök of Iris Hantverk Sara Edhäll from Iris Hantverk

Iris Hantverk is a Stockholm-based company that has been making handmade brushes since the late 1900s. Essentially the company was founded out of a movement to encourage a group of visually impaired people to participate actively in society, most importantly to have equal access to employment allowing them to live off their work. Following old Swedish traditions, visually impaired craftsmen in Sweden and Estonia continue to expertly create products using mostly natural materials.

Today the company is run by Richard Sparrenhök and Sara Edhäll who had worked at Iris Hantverk for many years before buying the company in 2012 when it had come up for sale after the Social department withdrew aid disbursed for depot activities for the visually impaired.

We are very grateful that Iris Hantverk continues to supply us with beautiful, lasting products that not only feel good in the hand but also just feel good. As many products made in the "old days", these products are meant to last. “We want our handmade brushes to continue beeing a joy to use a long time to come. With a little simple care, they will age beautifully.”

Enjoy!
